زمرد (Emerald)

زمرد یکی از ارزشمندترین گوهرهای جهان و گونه سبز کانی بریل است که رنگ آن عمدتاً از حضور کروم و وانادیوم ناشی می‌شود. این گوهر از دیرباز نمادی از شکوه و اصالت بوده و امروزه جایگاه ویژه‌ای در بازار جواهرات فاخر دارد

مهم‌ترین خاستگاه‌ها: کلمبیا، زامبیا، برزیل، افغانستان، پاکستان، ماداگاسکار و اتیوپی. معادن Muzo، Chivor و Coscuez در کلمبیا و منطقه Copperbelt در زامبیا از مهم‌ترین منابع زمرد مرغوب هستند

ارزش‌گذاری جهانی: رنگ مهم‌ترین عامل در ارزش زمرد است؛ سبز زنده و اشباع‌شده با تون متعادل معمولاً ارزش بالاتری دارد. شفافیت، کیفیت تراش، وزن، منشأ جغرافیایی و میزان بهسازی نیز در تعیین قیمت مؤثرند. زمردهای طبیعی با رنگ استثنایی، شفافیت مطلوب و منشأ معتبر می‌توانند ارزش بسیار بالایی داشته باشند
