اوپال اتیوپی یکی از شناخته‌شده‌ترین انواع اوپال طبیعی است که به‌دلیل بازی رنگ چشمگیر، درخشش بالا و تنوع رنگی منحصربه‌فرد، جایگاه ویژه‌ای در بازار گوهرهای رنگی دارد. بسیاری از نمونه‌های مرغوب آن دارای پدیده Play-of-Color هستند که طیف‌هایی از آبی، سبز، زرد، نارنجی و قرمز را در زوایای مختلف نمایان می‌کند
